Santa María del Camí

Santa María del Camí: Mallorcan tradition close to the city

At the foot of the Sierra de Tramuntana, with the charm of a traditional village and very close to the capital, Santa María del Camí is an ideal place to live, combining a quiet country life with the advantages of the island's capital, Palma, located right next to it.

The central area of Mallorca

Santa María del Camí, colloquially known as Santa María, is located in one of the most authentic areas of Mallorca: the Raiguer region. And as in most villages in the center of Mallorca, the impressive open fields, vineyards and countless almond trees shape the landscape of Santa María. Far away from the usual tourist routes, you will find here nature, tranquility and a lot of tradition.

Santa María's history and culture

To get to know the beginnings of Santa María one has to go back thousands of years; for the first cultural traces date back the years between 3,000 and 1,400 BC.

During the Saracen occupation, Santa María was known as "Mauia", which means "stop on the way" in Spanish. There are currently various historical buildings and crosses from this period that you can visit. The village also has a long history of wine production, but it wasn't until the 17th century that it became known across borders as an exporter of spirits to Europe and the rest of the world.

Santa María del Camí is much more than a crossroad or an exporter of spirits. It is a village, proud of its past and at the same time open to new ideas. Years of coexistence with residents from all over the world, enables the residents to live in a social environment open to change and the encounter with other cultures.
